FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE

Southwest Corporate's Financial Management Institute (FMI) offers a continuing education program for credit union professionals interested in gaining a deeper understanding of institutional finance. Since October 2005, more than 300 managers, directors, and staff members from 225 credit unions have received an indepth education in credit union financial management principles, strategic planning, investments, asset/liability management, and core operating activity analysis.

FMI is a no-cost, web-based curriculum of credit union financial management. Attendees can advance their careers, become more aware of critical issues related to managing a financial institution, and better understand their own credit union activities and strategic performance. Participants attend the web-based program from the comfort of their own home or office, saving time and money.

Starting April 21, 2009, Southwest Corporate will again offer the FMI certification in Basic Credit Union Finance and A/LM Management. This certificate program introduces each participant to basic strategic credit union finance, investment portfolio management practices, and asset/liability management principles. Each course instructor has a significant background in institutional finance and brings a wealth of personal experience and expertise to share with participants.

The course program consists of five sessions, each lasting one hour. Participants receive a Certificate of Accomplishment upon successful completion of the entire program. Sessions are free but class size is limited.

Enrollment for the 2009 session is now available. For more information, contact Brian Turner at 214.703.7881.
